Morrison and Her Kindergarten Physical

Last week I took Morrison to get her Kindergarten physical. Shawn mysterially had a patient that he couldn't transfer to someone else to look over so that he could go experience the five shots and blood testing that we had to have done. Smart daddy!

We go in and we get settled in the waiting room. There was another little girl there waiting beside us that sis used to go to daycare with, she was also waiting to her K physical. She kepted asking her mom, when she had to get her shots, sis looked at me and asked if she had too! Well, the fear in me overtook my logic and I lied, I told her that I wasn't too sure and probably not! I knew if I had told her the truth, there was no way she would even let me drag her into the room to see the dr.

It was finally our turn, we went in and the nurse took her weight and height, she weighed 40 pounds and was 43 inches tall. We went into the examining room, the nurse, asked her some little questions, nothing to exciting. She left a page that she wanted sis to do three things on: write her name, trace a square, triangle and a cirle and then she had to draw a stick figure. Well, I knew that Morrison would go over board! She wrote her name, nothing surprising! She drew the shapes. Then for her stick figure, she drew mommy! I had all my clothes on, my hair was done and I was wearing sunglasses. Then she preceeds to draw a house, a tree, some flowers and the clouds and an airplane in the sky! Little overboard!

So, then the nurse comes back in and tells me that she will come back and draw some blood, the dr will come in and then she'll come back in and give her the shots. BUSTED! I was busted! Morrison looked at me like I had just destroyed her little soul! This is horrible, I know, but I still played dumb, I said, really shots! The nurse looked at me like yeah, mom, shots, this is her K physical! I said, well okay! Then the nurse said she was going to go get the "stuff" to draw her blood. At this point, I wanted to hold on to her shirt and beg her not to leave me along with Morrison, I knew I was in trouble! After the nurse, walked out, sis said she was not getting blood drawn, she was not getting shots cause she was not going to Kindergarten. I told her she was and that she had to be a big girl! She was not a happy camper! Tears were flowing! The nurse came back in and drew her blood! She cried, I cried, we all cried!

So, she calms down and the dr comes in and sees the page that sis had been working on, she was like alright, looks like you can write your name and draw! The dr then proceeds to ask sis if she knew what the shapes were, she's like yeah, a circle, a triange and a square. Then she tells the dr that if the square was a little wider it would be a rectangle! So, then the dr asks her if she can count and instead of saying yes, sis starts counting. At about 30 the dr looks at me and I mouth 100, she's like, okay, Morrison good job. Then sis tells the dr that she can add and subtract, so the dr asks her a couple and she nails it! The dr was like wow, mom, she's gonna be totally bored! I was proud!

We go through the rest of the checking, poking, etc and we are healthy as can be! BUT, now it's time for the shots! Two nurses come in and we have to lay her down on the table, I am holding her hands and my face is right on her's, nose to nose, she is screaming and crying, I am crying, this was not fun! Luckily, the nurses go fast and get the 5 shots done! The nurses leave and she is screaming, I reminded her that her little friend is out in the lobby and that is she hears Morrison crying she won't want to see the dr. Didn't work!

So, long story short, we are going to Kindergarten in August. Yes, I said we, end of story! Who knows, I might even homeschool her!
